We review the existing finish, treads, risers and landings. Tell us about movement, damaged edges or areas you want to change.

Plan the whole staircase
Stair flooring covers the treads, risers and landings. Stringers, framing, handrails and guards are separate components. Their condition, along with the finished step dimensions, matters when a new surface is installed.
Remodeling gives you a chance to address worn surfaces, discuss loose or damaged components and create a more consistent appearance with the rest of your renovation. It can also improve how the home presents to future buyers, without a guaranteed resale return.

Changing the shape or support of a staircase is a larger construction project. We define the flooring scope and identify when a qualified designer or structural contractor should be involved.

A staircase is priced around its individual steps and details. A room’s square-foot flooring price does not describe the full scope of a stair project.
We measure the actual staircase and provide a written, itemized quote. Ask how the estimate separates labor, material, preparation and any additional work.
Our price list includes a $125 hardwood stair-installation line and a $100 laminate stair-installation line. The listing does not specify the unit or a complete stair project total; confirm the basis and inclusions in your estimate.
Our carpet stair guide lists $30 per step for installation labor, with carpet and pad quoted separately. At that rate, 12 steps would be $360 in stair labor before materials or other scoped work. Confirm project minimums and the full price when booking.
Clear expectations build trust
Existing wood handrails and balusters may be refinished or painted to coordinate with treads. Metal balusters or glass guards offer other design possibilities, but changes must suit the opening, support and anchorage.
If your project includes handrails, guards or structural changes, identify that work separately and confirm who is responsible for design, permits and installation.
